Movement uses location data from your mobile devices to increase local community awareness and connect people who live close to each other through shared location histories.

It is a local network; only people in your local community can join and it works by showing users the places that people in their community visit the most.

It does this by collecting location histories from individual users and showing the location overlaps. But everyone shares their data completely anonymously.

Each visited location has its own private guestbook that people can sign to reveal that they have been there. When they do, they can see the names of other people from their community who have also signed it.

This means that, if someone chooses to, they can connect with people in their local community based on the places they have been.

On MoveMeant, data is shared is a secure and privacy-sensitive way while still allowing people to get to know and make connections with the people who live around them. The goal is to help build community through anonymous data sharing.

MoveMeant uses GPS to keep track of the places you go. Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.
